Author Topic: Yamaha 703 Side Mount Controller - output wires definition? Tedious posted 03:29 PM ET (US) There are 4 individual wires coming out of Yamaha's 703 control box, terminated with bullet connectors. Colors of the wires are red, green, yellow, and black. Does anyone have a definition for each wire? For example, I am hoping one is a switched hot, only on when the ignition switch is in the on or starting position. Tim number9 posted 05:15 PM ET (US) Yellow should be the one you're hoping for per one of my rigging manuals.
Red - Battery + Black - Ground Green - Tach signal Yellow - Ignition on 12V tedious posted 11:34 AM ET (US) Thanks, that's just what I needed. Really appeciate the help! One followup that may also be shown in the manuals - do you run the power to the Command Link Hub from the yellow (switched) lead? I'd assume so, but don't want to fry anything from not checking. Tim jimh posted 11:50 AM ET (US) A more comprehensive collection of the Yamaha standard use of wire insulation color to specify circuit function is contained in the REFERENCE section: The Wire Color Code article confirms the circuit function designations suggested above based on the wire insulation color.

The article is the number one search result from a GOOGLE search on the terms 'Yamaha', 'wiring', 'color', and 'code.'
